The Horror! The Horror!

Ladies and gentlemen, space cadets of all shapes and sizes, it is now the month of October.  As you may or may not be aware, October houses one of the most interesting holidays of the year: Halloween, or All Hallow’s Eve, if you are so inclined.  As a result, people are making preparations to celebrate this wonderful holiday, by dressing up, or as I like to do, watch horror movies.  Seeing as this month is when people really start getting into the spirit of the holiday, we see a lot of movies released this month, both in theaters and on DVD/Blu-Ray.  So…I will be looking at a bunch of movies that are being released this month, including Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Vin Diesel’s The Last Witch Hunter.  As soon as those films are released, I will be reviewing them as soon as possible.  I’m also going to be taking a look at a bunch of horror films that have already been released this year.  I recently did a review on Eli Roth’s latest, The Green Inferno, which was a flawed, but fairly solid cannibal horror flick in the vein of Cannibal Holocaust.  Speaking of which, I should be receiving a copy of Cannibal Holocaust on Monday, so I can take another look at it.  I had reviewed that one for an older website of mine, but the review has since been deleted for quality reasons.

Since I pretty much started with The Green Inferno, over the next couple of days I will be covering some of the most notorious and controversial horror films that have been released to date.  Cannibal Holocaust is one of those movies, as is A Serbian Film.  My intention is to review these flicks and then come to a conclusion as to how and why these films were so controversial.  Be warned, these reviews WILL contain mature subject matter and graphic descriptions.  So, if you have a weak stomach or are easily offended, stay away for a while.  That’s my initial plan, but I will also be doing previews of horror flicks that aren’t coming out this month.  There are a great deal of horror movies coming out in 2016 that have my interest piqued.  For the controversial films, I will be picking from either my personal library or from Netflix.  While I don’t have a specific schedule set up, rest assured that there will be a lot material covered over the next few weeks.  My next review will be Cannibal Holocaust, so you’ll have to wait until Monday when I finally get the film on DVD.  That’s all I have for now, so I hope everybody’s getting all geared up for the holiday, and I hope you are willing to watch some scary movies.
